Following convocation on the first day of the school year, the eucharist was removed from the Chapel and placed in a temporary one for the duration of construction. The decorative end caps on each pew were removed and saved and will be attached to new, expanded pews. This process provides additional seating while maintaining the historic aesthetic. Light bounces off the parquet floor after the pews were removed. MCL Construction added protective panels over the floor before heavy machines were brought in. Workers have repaired and painted damaged plaster, restored and painted each Station of the Cross, added new paint on the walls, and increased the lighting. A new look for the choir loft. The organ, which was no longer in use, was removed to add additional seating for students and guests. A worker paints the foundation for a layer of gold leaf trim that will adorn each column.
